However, both teams have undergone leadership changes this season. Ajinkya Rahane takes charge of KKR, while Rajat Patidar steps up as the new RCB captain. Flower expressed full confidence in Patidar, calling him “excited” and praising the squad’s experienced core for rallying around their young leader.

“We were conscious of building an experienced side in our recruitment… they will be able to support Rajat. We’re right behind him,” Flower added.

Addressing KKR’s spin threat, Flower acknowledged the challenge posed by Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy, calling them world-class. Still, he embraced the challenge, noting that such contests are what define the IPL’s international calibre.

“It’s about testing yourself against the best… the energy and excitement of IPL in India is unmatched,” he said.

On the evolving nature of T20 cricket, Flower pointed to the increasing physicality of modern batters, noting that many are becoming “bigger, stronger” while still highlighting the value of intelligent cricketers like Virat Kohli.

“There’s still space for high-quality, highly intelligent players like Virat Kohli. He’s a super-fit, strong young man too,” he said.

As the countdown to IPL 2025’s blockbuster opening clash begins, Andy Flower has made one thing clear: RCB isn’t backing down—and KKR better be ready.
