Ferrari Confirms Fred Vasseur Multi-Year Extension

The Italian F1 giant reaffirms trust in the Frenchman’s leadership with a fresh “multi-year” deal. This extension aims to provide stability and build on foundations laid since Vasseur’s 2023 arrival.

July 31, 2025: Scuderia Ferrari has said that Fred Vasseur, the team’s principal, will stay with the team for a few more years. This ends all the talk about what will happen to him in the future and proves that the Formula One team is entirely behind him as they try to win the title. The news broke on Thursday, July 31, 2025, the day before the weekend of the Hungarian Grand Prix.

At the beginning of 2023, Vasseur moved from Sauber to Ferrari, and he has been a vital part of the team’s big improvements during a hard time for the Prancing Horse. Even though there has been a lot of pressure on the 57-year-old Frenchman, especially from Italian media claims in June that he would lose his job, Ferrari has officially indicated they still believe in him.

I said, “Thanks for trusting me, Ferrari.” “This renewal isn’t just a confirmation; it’s a challenge to keep moving forward, stay focused, and deliver,” Vasseur said after the contract was extended. “We’ve built a strong base over the last 30 months, and now we need to build on it with consistency and determination.” We all know what we need to do, and we are all completely dedicated to reaching those goals and moving forward as a group.

Benedetto Vigna, the CEO of Ferrari, talked about how they all had the same goal and believed in Vasseur’s strategic orientation. Ferrari said in a statement, “His ability to lead under pressure, embrace innovation, and pursue performance is completely in line with Ferrari’s values and long-term goals.” “Fred has brought Ferrari together, focused it, and made it dedicated to continually improving. The team’s trust in him demonstrates that they believe in the team’s strategic direction. This makes their shared commitment to offer Ferrari’s fans, drivers, and team members the results they expect and deserve even stronger.

Under Vasseur’s leadership, Ferrari finished second in the 2023 Teams’ Championship, just 14 points behind McLaren. Even if the gap between Ferrari and McLaren has grown a lot this season (268 points) as the summer break approaches, Ferrari is still in second place in the Constructors’ standings, ahead of Mercedes and Red Bull. Charles Leclerc has helped the team finish in the top three in two of the last three races. Lewis Hamilton is becoming more and more sure of himself in his first season at the Scuderia.

The long-term pact puts an end to the “disrespectful” rumors that Vasseur strongly denounced in June, claiming they were “clearly hurting the team.” Ferrari hopes to leverage Vasseur’s leadership to push for greater performance improvements, especially given the sport will change a lot in 2026 when new technical rules go into effect.
