'Forever Grateful': Rohit Sharma’s Cryptic Post Sparks Retirement Rumors
June 23, 2025: Team India stalwart Rohit Sharma celebrated a remarkable milestone today, completing 18 years in international cricket.
The veteran batter, known for his elegance and dominance across formats, commemorated the occasion with a heartfelt Instagram story that simply read:
“Forever grateful 23.06.07”, accompanied by a photo of his iconic India helmet — a tribute to the date he first wore the Indian jersey.
Rohit’s international journey began on June 23, 2007, with an ODI against Ireland in Belfast. Since then, the 37-year-old has become one of Indian cricket’s greatest ever batters, accumulating over 19,000 international runs and etching his name in the record books.
Beyond his batting prowess, Rohit has also proved to be a successful leader. Under his captaincy, India ended their ICC trophy drought with wins in the 2024 T20 World Cup and the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. He has led India in all three formats and left a lasting impact on the team’s white-ball dominance.
Having retired from Test cricket, Rohit is currently not part of India’s Test squad touring England. However, he has hinted at continuing in ODIs until the 2027 World Cup. He recently wrapped up a decent IPL 2025 season with Mumbai Indians, scoring 418 runs in 15 matches.
Post-IPL, Rohit is vacationing in Abu Dhabi with wife Ritika Sajdeh, daughter Samaira, and family. He shared glimpses of his holiday on social media, enjoying a well-deserved break before his next cricketing chapter.
