From Seattle to the Giants—Can Russell Wilson Spark a Comeback?
July 14, 2025: Even though Russell Wilson left the Seattle Seahawks in 2022, his legacy still lingers among fans who remember him as the quarterback who brought the city its first Super Bowl title. While he’s also known for the infamous one-yard-line interception that cost them a repeat, the highs far outweigh the lows.
Now, Wilson is preparing for his fourth NFL season away from Seattle, and he’s suiting up for his third team in three years—this time, the New York Giants. After a brief and rocky run with the Denver Broncos and a one-year stint with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Wilson is hoping to revitalize his career in the Big Apple—and his new teammates are already noticing a shift.
Tight end Chris Manhertz, who played with Wilson in Denver last season, praised the veteran QB’s leadership and intense focus. In an interview with the New York Post, Manhertz shared, “Russ is as detailed as it gets. It’s kind of contagious to be around him and see how he works and how he carries himself… It’s all business on the field, and Russ is all business.” He also added, “The leadership is a lot better this year. It feels different—in a good way.”
Wilson isn’t guaranteed the long-term starting job. He’ll need to fend off rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart, especially if the team struggles early in the season. Still, Wilson’s work ethic and veteran presence may be exactly what the Giants need in what could be a rebuilding year.
