Gautam Gambhir Attends Rishabh Pant’s Sister’s Wedding in Dehradun

March 12, 2025: Team India head coach of the men’s cricket team, Gautam Gambhir, made a special visit to Dehradun, Uttarakhand on Wednesday to attend the wedding of wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant’s sister, Sakshi Pant. Sakshi is set to tie the knot with her long-time partner, Ankit Choudhary.

Sakshi had announced her engagement to Ankit on Instagram on January 6 last year, marking their nine-year-long relationship. The couple had been together for almost a decade before taking the next step in their journey together.

Gambhir, who has been actively involved in shaping India’s cricketing strategies as the head coach, took some time off his busy schedule to attend the joyous occasion, showing his support for Pant’s family. Pant himself could not attend the wedding due to his ongoing recovery after the accident, but the occasion still saw a number of close friends, family members, and guests coming together to celebrate the big day.

The wedding coincides with a memorable moment for Team India, as they had recently secured their third ICC Champions Trophy title on Sunday. The championship victory in Dubai was marked by a brilliant all-round performance from the team. India defeated New Zealand by four wickets, with skipper Rohit Sharma leading from the front, scoring a swift half-century, and contributing to the team’s success. Rohit was named Player of the Match for his 76-run knock, which included seven boundaries and three sixes.

The final saw contributions from other key players, including Shreyas Iyer and spinners Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav, who played vital roles in restricting New Zealand to a manageable total.

New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra emerged as the Player of the Tournament, with an impressive tally of 263 runs in four matches, including two centuries. His performance in the final was also noteworthy as he scored a quick 37 runs from 29 balls, helping New Zealand to a strong start. Ravindra was also effective with the ball, taking three wickets across the tournament.

Matt Henry, the New Zealand right-arm seamer, finished as the tournament’s highest wicket-taker, with 10 wickets in four matches, including a five-wicket haul against India in the group stage.

As the celebrations for Rishabh Pant’s family continue in Dehradun, Gambhir’s presence adds a personal touch to the joyous occasion, marking another milestone in the cricketer’s life as well as the cricketing achievements of Team India.
