February 16, 2025: Gujarat Titans’ COO, Colonel Arvinder Singh, is excited about the prospect of Shubman Gill leading the Indian men’s cricket team in the future. The young and talented opening batter has quickly made a name for himself, rising through the ranks of Indian cricket with his remarkable performances. Known for his prolific batting, Gill has also proven his leadership skills, captaining Gujarat Titans in the IPL.

Arvinder believes Gill’s leadership journey will only continue to flourish, and he sees no reason why he shouldn’t take on the captaincy role for India one day. “We are waiting for the day when he possibly becomes the captain of the Indian team. We would be very happy. He could be the future of Indian cricket,” Arvinder said, expressing his confidence in Gill’s growth as a leader. Gill has already led India to a 4-1 T20I series win over Zimbabwe in 2024 and will serve as Rohit Sharma’s deputy in the upcoming Champions Trophy.

Despite a challenging 2024 IPL season where Gujarat Titans, under Gill’s leadership, failed to make the playoffs, the franchise remains optimistic about his future and their prospects. GT, after winning the IPL title in 2022, faced difficulties in the 2024 season, finishing 8th in the group stage. However, with new additions like Jos Buttler, Mohammed Siraj, Kagiso Rabada, and Gerald Coetzee, GT is aiming to reignite their championship-winning form.

Arvinder reflected on the team’s success in their inaugural season in 2022, emphasizing that their victory came despite being underestimated. “Everybody said they didn’t know what they were doing at the auction table… and in the first year, they became champions,” he remarked. Despite challenges, Arvinder is confident that the team will perform well in the upcoming seasons, including 2025, stating that success in the IPL is determined by on-field performance, not auction results.

In addition to their IPL endeavors, Gujarat Titans celebrated the successful conclusion of the ‘Junior Titans’ Season Two initiative in Ahmedabad. This initiative encourages children under 14 to engage in outdoor sports and physical activity. Over 5,000 children from 106 schools participated in the program, which traveled across five cities in Gujarat. Partnering with Pokemon, the initiative also allowed children to meet Pikachu and enjoy exciting activities.

Arvinder emphasized that the ‘Junior Titans’ initiative is not a short-term project. “We do a lot of analysis and planning to do all this in the right manner,” he said, indicating the franchise’s commitment to promoting sports and physical activity among children for years to come.
