A record-breaking unbeaten 205-run opening partnership between skipper Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan ensured GT sealed their place in the IPL 2025 playoffs, climbing to the top of the points table with 18 points from 12 matches.
Sudarshan was the star of the chase, smashing a career-best 108 off 61 balls*, including 12 fours and 6 sixes, at a strike rate of 177.05. Gill, not far behind, anchored the innings with 93 off 53 deliveries*, decorated with 3 boundaries and 7 towering sixes. The duo reached every milestone with ease—bringing up their 50-run stand by the 5th over, the 100 by the 11th, and sealing the victory with a six off the final ball of the 19th over.
Earlier, Delhi Capitals had posted a competitive 199/3 after being put into bat. Skipper KL Rahul led from the front, remaining unbeaten on 112 off 65 balls*, with a dazzling display of 14 fours and 4 sixes. Despite the strong batting performance, DC’s bowlers had no answers to the relentless onslaught from Gill and Sudharsan.
