Hardik Pandya Fined ₹12 Lakh for IPL Code Breach

Mumbai Indians’ captain, Hardik Pandya, faced a fine of ₹12 lakh for a slow over rate during their match against Punjab Kings in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur. The IPL issued an official statement on Friday regarding Pandya’s breach of conduct. This fine comes as a result of Mumbai Indians maintaining a slow over rate during their IPL 2024 match against Punjab Kings. IPL stated, “As it was his team’s first offense of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offenses, Pandya was fined ₹12 lakhs.”

Mumbai Indians managed to secure a victory against Punjab Kings, thanks to remarkable performances from star bowlers Jasprit Bumrah (3/21) and Gerald Coetzee (3/32), along with a brilliant 78-run innings by Surya Kumar Yadav. Despite an impressive 61 off 28 blitz by Punjab Kings’ Ashutosh, Suryakumar Yadav’s 78 runs helped Mumbai Indians post a total of 192/7.

Following their win, Mumbai Indians have played seven matches, winning three and losing four. Currently, they hold the seventh spot in the standings with six points and a negative run rate of 0.133.
