November 5, 2025: Indian Women’s Cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur has permanently commemorated the nation’s historic ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 title by getting the coveted trophy inked onto her skin.

The new tattoo features the World Cup trophy with two significant numbers: 2025 and 52. The former marks the year of India’s maiden triumph, while the latter represents the 52-run margin of victory against South Africa in the final held in Navi Mumbai.

Harmanpreet Kaur: “Forever etched in my skin and my heart. Waited for you since Day 1 and now I will see you every morning and be grateful.”

Childhood Dream Realized

The tattoo is a symbol of a dream Harmanpreet has chased for almost two decades. The 36-year-old skipper led India to their first-ever World Cup title on Sunday night, fulfilling a lifelong ambition.

In a candid video released by the BCCI, the captain reflected on her humble beginnings in cricket:

“Ever since I started understanding likes and dislikes as a kid, I’ve always had a bat in my hand… I still remember we used to play with a bat from my dad’s kit bag. The bat was very big. One day, my dad cut an old bat of his to make it smaller for me. We used to play with it.”

She recalled watching the World Cup on television, long before she even knew women’s cricket was a recognized path: “I used to think, I need an opportunity like this. At that time, I didn’t even know about women’s cricket.”

An Emotional and Historic Victory

The victory was especially significant for the captain, who was part of the squad that suffered a heartbreaking 9-run defeat in the 2017 World Cup final. The 2025 victory, secured in front of a packed stadium in Navi Mumbai, was a moment of profound gratitude for the skipper.

Harmanpreet Kaur: “Personally, it’s a very emotional moment because it was my dream since childhood… It’s like magic. I don’t understand how suddenly everything fell into place… Finally, we are world champions. I am feeling very relaxed, very humble, so grateful to God…”

Following the historic win, the captain shared a powerful message for young aspirants: “Never stop dreaming. You never know where your destiny will take you.”
