West Indies cricketer Javon Searles among those charged in Barbados corruption investigation
March 13, 2026: A fresh controversy has shaken West Indies cricket after the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced strict action in connection with an alleged corruption case linked to the 2023/24 Bim10 League in Barbados. The ICC has provisionally suspended three individuals, including West Indies cricketer Javon Searles, after allegations surfaced about attempts to manipulate matches during the tournament. The governing body said the suspensions are part of an ongoing investigation into activities that may have compromised the integrity of the competition.
Apart from Searles, the ICC has also charged Titans team official Trevon Griffith and Titans owner Chittaranjan Rathod. According to investigators, the trio allegedly attempted to influence match outcomes and interfere with the natural course of games during the league. Authorities also suspect that attempts were made to involve other players in corrupt activities and that some of the accused failed to fully cooperate with anti-corruption officials during the probe.
Griffith has additionally been charged under both the Cricket West Indies Anti-Corruption Code and the ICC’s International Anti-Corruption Code, with allegations that he tried to conceal or tamper with evidence relevant to the investigation. The ICC has suspended all three individuals from cricket with immediate effect and given them 14 days, starting March 11, 2026, to respond to the charges. The case is part of a wider crackdown on corruption in the sport, with American cricketer Aaron Jones also previously linked to the broader probe.
