ICC T20 WC Final: Akasa Air To Operate Special Match-Day Flights On Mumbai–Ahmedabad
Akasa Air has announced special match-day flights between Mumbai and Ahmedabad to accommodate the massive surge of fans heading to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 final.
With India set to defend their title against New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium, the airline is introducing additional frequencies, including flight QP-6581, which departs Mumbai at 11:30 am on Sunday. The return leg, QP-6502, is scheduled for 4:00 am on Monday, allowing supporters to attend the high-stakes match and return home without the need for overnight hotel stays.
While the schedule offers significant convenience for the expected crowd of over 130,000 spectators, the travel comes at a premium. Fares for these special flights are priced at approximately ₹8,316 for the onward journey and ₹8,906 for the return—nearly double the airline’s standard rates for this route.
Despite the higher costs, demand remains unprecedented following India’s thrilling semi-final victory over England and New Zealand’s dominant win against South Africa.
