After hosting a split-venue Champions Trophy 2025, PCB claims financial success and hits back at India, warning of bigger consequences in future ICC events.
Lahore, March 22 – In the aftermath of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has lashed out at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), warning of greater financial consequences if the two nations continue to avoid bilateral tours.
Despite widespread media reports suggesting financial setbacks for Pakistan, PCB spokesperson Aamir Mir and CFO Javed Murtaza claimed the board will still record a profit of nearly USD 10 million from hosting the event, even with India playing its matches at a neutral venue (Dubai).
“All the decision-making is done by the ICC. If India tried to harm Pakistan financially, let me tell you—they will pay the price,” Mir said at a press conference.
“India vs Pakistan sells like hot cakes. If Pakistan doesn’t travel to India for the next three years, India will suffer more financial loss.”
🏏 Background: The Champions Trophy Standoff
Leading up to the Champions Trophy 2025, there was major uncertainty over India’s participation due to the tournament being hosted in Pakistan. India refused to tour the country, citing security and diplomatic reasons. After months of speculation, the ICC announced a split-venue format, with:

Further, the ICC declared that all India vs Pakistan matches in ICC events (if hosted by India or Pakistan) will be held at neutral venues until 2027—a significant compromise that highlights the tense political undercurrents in cricket diplomacy.
🇮🇳 🇵🇰 A Strained Rivalry Off the Field
India and Pakistan have not played a bilateral series since 2012–13, and all clashes since then have occurred only in ICC or ACC tournaments. India last toured Pakistan in 2005–06, while Pakistan’s last visit to India was for a brief series in 2012.
The PCB’s sharp response now puts future ICC events under the spotlight, especially if Pakistan boycotts travel to India, potentially disrupting the financial ecosystem of global cricket.
