August 13, 2025: The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has officially supported India’s goal of hosting the Commonwealth Games in 2030. This is a major step in the right direction. The IOA’s Special General Meeting (SGM) in New Delhi on Wednesday given the go light. People have said that the prestigious multi-sport tournament will take place in Ahmedabad.
India has already made an Expression of Interest to the Commonwealth Sport, which is in charge of organizing the event. The IOA has given the country official permission to bring in its final bid proposal before the August 31 deadline. The choice is a major boost for India’s chances, especially considering Canada just pulled out of the race.
Darren Hall, the Director of Games for Commonwealth Sport, is leading a party that has already gone to Ahmedabad to look at various venues and chat to officials from the Gujarat government. Later this month, a larger group is going to arrive and undertake more tests. The last week of November in Glasgow will be when the last city to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games is picked.
India hosted the event in Delhi in 2010, and now it has a decent chance of getting the games back to the country.
