IPL 2024: KL Rahul, Ruturaj Gaikwad Fined Rs 12 Lakh Each

In the ongoing IPL 2024 season, both Chennai Super Kings’ captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and Lucknow Super Giants’ skipper KL Rahul have been fined for their teams’ slow over-rate during their recent match at the Ekana Cricket Stadium.

Each captain received a fine of Rs 12 lakh as their teams failed to maintain the required pace of play. The IPL released an official statement addressing the breach of the Code of Conduct, specifically regarding minimum over-rate offenses.

The statement clarified that this was the first offense of the season for both captains under the IPL’s Code of Conduct. KL Rahul, leading Lucknow Super Giants, faced the penalty for the team’s slow over-rate during Match 34 against Chennai Super Kings, while Ruturaj Gaikwad, leading Chennai Super Kings, was fined for the same offense during the same match.

In the match itself, Lucknow Super Giants secured an impressive eight-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings, thanks to a stellar performance by their openers. Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul’s partnership laid a solid foundation, with Rahul showcasing aggressive batting skills. Their partnership set the stage for a successful chase, with Nicholas Pooran providing the final touches to seal the win.
