IPL 2025 Auction : Axar Patel Surprises Delhi Capitals Fan Contest Winners

November 23, 2024: The build-up to the IPL 2025 mega auction is already creating waves, and the Delhi Capitals (DC) are doing everything to make the experience unforgettable for their fans. With less than two days left for the auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, DC made it a memorable occasion for the winners of the ‘Roar Macha in Jeddah’ contest. During a virtual interaction, star all-rounder Axar Patel surprised the lucky fans with a personal message.

The contest, which saw thousands of passionate Delhi Capitals fans submit video entries showcasing their support for the team, gave the winners the incredible opportunity to travel to Jeddah and witness the IPL 2025 mega auction live.

Axar Patel, a pivotal player for DC, took time to thank these dedicated fans during the virtual meet. He acknowledged their vital role, saying, “You fans are our real backbone. Everywhere we go, it feels like we are in India. Thank you so much for supporting us. Congratulations to all the contest winners. Keep supporting us because ‘Roar Tabhi Toh Machega’.” His words of gratitude reinforced the deep bond between the players and the fans.

Ahead of the auction, Delhi Capitals made some strategic retention decisions. The team held on to key players like Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav (the left-arm spinner), Tristan Stubbs, and young batter Abishek Porel. The move was in line with their intent to build a balanced core while leaving room to strengthen the squad during the auction.

DC’s team Chairman and co-owner, Kiran Kumar Grandhi, expressed his satisfaction with the retentions, stating, “We have a strong and balanced core around which we aim to build the rest of our squad. The mega auction is always an exciting and dynamic experience, often throwing up surprises, and we’re looking forward to that. We are confident we’ll put together a terrific squad capable of winning the trophy.”

Co-owner Parth Jindal also highlighted the importance of the mix of experience and youth in the team. He said, “In Axar, Kuldeep, Tristan, and Abishek, we have the ideal blend of experience and youth. While I would have liked to retain more players who have played for DC, the rules require us to be strategic. We are going into the auction with two RTM (Right to Match) cards, which gives us the flexibility to bring back some players from our past squads. Our goal is to build a squad capable of bringing the IPL trophy home to Delhi.”

The IPL 2025 mega auction promises to be an exciting event, and with these retentions, Delhi Capitals are clearly aiming to put together a well-rounded squad to compete for the coveted title. Fans can expect surprises and plenty of action when the auction takes place on November 24 and 25 at the Abady Al Johar Arena in Jeddah.
