Fast bowler returns to Lucknow Super Giants after knee rehabilitation at BCCI Centre of Excellence, boosting injury-hit pace attack for IPL 2025.
New Delhi, March 25: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) may still be reeling from a heartbreaking one-wicket loss to Delhi Capitals, but they received a timely boost ahead of their next Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 fixture — fast bowler Avesh Khan has been cleared to rejoin the squad.
According to a report by ESPNCricinfo, Avesh has successfully completed his rehabilitation at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru after suffering from discomfort in his right knee, an issue believed to have stemmed from a packed domestic season workload. The 27-year-old Madhya Pradesh pacer had been out of action since January and was expected to miss the initial games of IPL 2025.
However, following his final fitness assessment on Monday, medical staff have given Avesh the green light to return to full training and potentially make his season debut soon. An exact date for his reintegration with the LSG squad is yet to be confirmed.
LSG’s Injury Concerns in Focus:
The return of Avesh comes at a crucial time, with LSG’s pace attack severely depleted. Leading bowlers Mohsin Khan, Mayank Yadav, and Akash Deep are still recovering from injuries and remain unavailable. Shardul Thakur, drafted in as a replacement for Mohsin, was the only experienced frontline pacer available for their season opener.
Avesh’s return adds depth and balance to a struggling LSG bowling unit ahead of a tough fixture against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on March 27 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad.
LSG Squad for IPL 2025:
