April 6, 2025: Rajasthan Royals fast bowler Jofra Archer opened up about his approach during his bowling spell in Saturday’s match against Punjab Kings in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Archer, who was pivotal in his team’s 50-run victory, shared his thoughts on how he set the tone for the game, despite the ball not swinging as much as expected.

In a video posted by IPL, Archer revealed that his goal was to give his team a good start and build pressure on the opposing batsmen. Though he anticipated more swing, he expressed satisfaction in taking a wicket with his first delivery, which provided the energy the team needed. Archer’s quick strike helped Rajasthan Royals get off to a strong start, and he finished with figures of 3/35 in his four overs.

“Well, I thought that, you know, if I can give the guys a good start, the bowler from the other end would take that up, do the same thing, and hopefully keep passing the bats on them. Honestly, I think the ball was supposed to swing a bit more. I didn’t expect it not to do as much, but I’m happy that I still was able to get a wicket with the first ball, you know, set the tone. It got everybody some energy, and, you know, I’m just glad that we got the win in the end,” Archer explained.

Rajasthan Royals’ batter Yashasvi Jaiswal also shared his thoughts on handling the pressure of the IPL, especially after finding his form in the match with a knock of 67 runs. Jaiswal acknowledged the constant pressure of the game but emphasized the importance of embracing and enjoying it.

“I always think to climb another mountain. I need to absorb the pressure and enjoy the pressure because, of course, there is pressure in this game,” Jaiswal said.

Both Archer and Jaiswal’s performances were crucial in Rajasthan Royals’ 50-run win over Punjab Kings at Mullanpur. Archer’s fiery spell and Jaiswal’s knock were key moments that helped RR register a commanding victory.
