April 3, 2025: Former New Zealand captain Kane Williamson praised Gujarat Titans’ strategic play and their dominant performance in the IPL 2025 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
Williamson, speaking after the match, emphasized the importance of the early dismissal of Virat Kohli, who was caught out for just 7 runs. He noted that Kohli’s presence on the field at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium was always dangerous due to his impressive record at the venue, where he has accumulated nearly 3,000 runs. Williamson called Kohli’s early wicket “crucial” to Gujarat Titans’ victory.

The match saw some exceptional bowling performances, with Mohammed Siraj playing a key role. Siraj, in particular, impressed with his fiery pace and aggressive bowling. He was pivotal in reducing RCB to a precarious 38/3 after the powerplay, dismissing Devdutt Padikkal, Philip Salt, and later, Liam Livingstone. His figures of 3/19 earned him the Player of the Match award. Williamson noted that Siraj’s familiarity with Chinnaswamy’s conditions and his ability to bowl with aggression and fire made a significant impact early in the game.
“Siraj bowled with real fire in his belly,” Williamson said. “He led the attack with aggression and some excellent pace, setting the tone early and making a significant impact for GT. It was deservedly his match for the performance he put in.”

With Kohli dismissed early, Gujarat Titans capitalized on the early breakthroughs. RCB’s total of 169/8 was never going to be enough against the Titans’ powerful chase. Gujarat Titans effortlessly chased down the target, securing an emphatic 8-wicket victory.
Overall, Gujarat Titans put on a clinical display of both skill and strategy, with Siraj’s brilliance in the powerplay, alongside key performances from the rest of the team, ensuring they sealed the win with ease. The victory was a complete team effort, with the Titans maintaining their dominant form in the IPL 2025 season.
