May 2, 2025: Trent Boult, the star bowler for Mumbai Indians (MI), reflected on his team’s all-around dominance after a 100-run victory over Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL 2025 on Thursday. MI posted a challenging total of 210/6 in 20 overs, which proved to be more than enough, as RR could only manage 117 in their chase.
Boult praised the batting unit for setting up the match with a solid total, saying, “As a unit, can’t ask for much more than that. It was set up nicely by the batters. 210 was a great score on that wicket. Great all-around performance. There are a lot of combinations there, a lot of experience, and we’re doing well. 6 from 6 is great.”
The MI bowling attack then took control, with Boult, along with Karn Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah, ensuring a commanding victory. Boult himself finished with three wickets in two overs, playing a key role in dismantling RR’s chase.

The Kiwi pacer also emphasized the importance of momentum in T20 cricket: “T20 cricket is about momentum. It’s delivering on the plans we’ve got in place. Lucky enough to have some experience playing here. Always a good challenge, they have a couple of boundary-hitters at the top, knew they were going to come hard.”
Boult also praised Jasprit Bumrah‘s return to the squad, calling him a “huge addition” after missing out on a few games earlier in the season: “Huge addition to our squad, missed out on a few games early, but he needs no introduction. Job’s done well, looking forward to the next one.”

This victory marked MI’s sixth consecutive win after a shaky start, having lost four of their first five matches. It was also MI’s first victory against RR in Jaipur since 2012, breaking a four-match losing streak at the venue.
