"A lot of positives for us this season": PBKS skipper Sam Curran
Following Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) impressive five-wicket victory over Rajasthan Royals (RR), skipper Sam Curran expressed his satisfaction with captaining the team this season and highlighted the numerous positives for the squad.
Despite Rajasthan Royals qualifying for the playoffs, their recent performance has been lackluster, culminating in a defeat against PBKS in their Indian Premier League (IPL) match on Wednesday at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. The Royals’ downward spiral continued as Punjab’s solid bowling attack and Curran’s fighting half-century secured the win.
Reflecting on the match and the season, Curran stated, “I thought we bowled really well as a group. We had a lot of pride to play for. The way the guys came together… Nathan Ellis, the way he played his first game, was excellent. Great character from the team. I have thoroughly enjoyed the season, and thoroughly enjoyed captaining. Lots of positives for us this season. The chase against KKR (of 262 runs). Shashank Singh has been amazing, Ashutosh, in his debut season. Harshal and Arshdeep have done well as well.”
Curran’s leadership and performance have been pivotal for PBKS, who despite not making the playoffs, showcased strong individual and team efforts throughout the season. This victory against a top team like RR adds to the positive takeaways for Punjab as they look forward to future campaigns.
