"Biggest Fraud": Rishabh Pant Faces Backlash as Poor IPL 2025 Form Sparks Outrage Among Fans
April 4, 2025: Rishabh Pant’s nightmare IPL 2025 season just went from bad to worse. The Lucknow Super Giants captain, who made headlines for becoming the costliest player in IPL history at ₹27 crore, has now scored only 19 runs in four matches — sparking a social media storm that branded him the “biggest fraud” of the tournament.

Pant’s latest flop came against Mumbai Indians on Friday at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, where Hardik Pandya dismissed him cheaply yet again. In four innings, Pant has registered scores of 0, 15, 2, and 2, raising serious concerns about both his form and value to the LSG squad.

Social media platforms erupted with memes and criticism, many fans questioning the decision to splurge ₹27 crore on the underperforming wicketkeeper-batter. Several posts labeled Pant a “scam signing,” while others mocked his leadership and inability to anchor the innings despite repeated chances.

“Biggest fraud in IPL history,” one user posted.
“Even the pitch is tired of giving him chances,” joked another.
Despite the flak, LSG mentor Zaheer Khan came to Pant’s defense in the post-match press conference:
“We always have to find a way as he is our captain. Everyone has expectations from him. The way he has led, we believe he will also contribute as a player.”
However, Zaheer didn’t mince words about the Ekana pitch, calling it a major letdown for the team’s opening home fixture, particularly after a humbling eight-wicket loss to Punjab Kings.
“It’s a home game, but the pitch didn’t reflect that. It looked more like a pitch prepared by the Punjab curator,” Zaheer noted.
“We hope this is the first and last time this happens, as it robs the Lucknow fans of a real home advantage.”
With six more home matches to go and expectations still high, Pant will have to bounce back quickly to justify the franchise’s faith — and price tag.
Meanwhile, LSG continues to rely on Nicholas Pooran, the tournament’s current leading run-scorer, to keep their season afloat.
