Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill lit up the internet — not just with his team’s 8-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), but also with a cryptic post that followed shortly after. The post, which read, “Eyes on the game, not the noise,” has led to intense speculation among fans, with many claiming it was a subtle dig at Virat Kohli’s aggressive celebrations and a message to trolls who previously targeted Gill’s sister online.
Gill’s post on X (formerly Twitter) was his first since the start of IPL 2025. Coming right after GT crushed the undefeated RCB at their home turf — the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium — the timing and tone of the message were quickly interpreted as layered.
Fans were quick to tie the “noise” reference to Kohli’s animated reaction after dismissing Gill in a previous encounter, with one user writing: “We all know the noise he is talking about,” alongside a photo of Kohli roaring in celebration.
Others connected it to online trolling from IPL 2023, when Gill’s sister, Shahneel, was abused after GT beat RCB in a tight contest. This post, they say, is Gill’s “graceful comeback” and a show of mental resilience.
Despite the theories, there’s no public rift between the two players. In fact, Gill and Kohli shared a warm hug and smile after the match, showcasing their camaraderie. Kohli has often praised Gill in the past, even calling him “far more talented than I was at 19.”
Still, in a league as emotionally charged as the IPL, even a seven-word post can stir up a storm.
“Restricting them to 170, we knew we were in the game. The pitch had something early on, but we kept it tight. Siraj was fantastic. Once we didn’t lose early wickets, we were confident of chasing it.”
