GT can't be ruled out till very last ball: Shubman Gill
Following a thrilling last-ball victory against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their Indian Premier League (IPL) clash, Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Shubman Gill expressed his desire to have been the one to secure the win, while heaping praise on Rashid Khan for his decisive performance. Gill acknowledged that GT always maintained belief in their ability to win, right up to the final delivery.
Shubman Gill’s robust half-century laid the foundation for GT’s success, which was ultimately clinched by the stellar efforts of Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan, leading to a dramatic three-wicket win in Jaipur.
In his remarks after the match, Gill discussed the team’s strategy saying, “We aimed for 45 runs in the last three overs, which we believed was achievable. The plan was for both batsmen at the crease to target roughly 22 runs off 9 balls each; however, if one could accelerate, we might finish even sooner.”

Reflecting on his own dismissal and the subsequent heroics by Tewatia and Khan, Gill shared, “Ideally, I would have liked to be the one finishing the game, but I’m thrilled with how Rashid and Rahul stepped up. Rashid is an exceptional talent, a player whose presence is a massive boost for any side. He’s competitive, and you always want someone like him in your corner. Even in tight situations, with GT, you should never count us out.”
This win, achieved on the very last ball, was particularly sweet for Gill and his team, overturning their previous match’s outcome where they controlled much of the game but faltered significantly during critical phases.
