Gujarat Titans Set Massive 224-Run Target Against Sunrisers Hyderabad In Dominant First Innings Display Of IPL Match

May 2, 2025: In a high-octane clash at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Gujarat Titans (GT) put on a batting masterclass against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), posting a mammoth total of 224 for 6 in their 20 overs in Match 66 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

Leading from the front, GT skipper Shubman Gill played a captain’s knock, scoring a fluent 76 runs. Gill’s innings was filled with exquisite strokes and intelligent placement until a controversial run-out cut his stay short. The decision, which involved a lengthy third-umpire review, left Gill visibly frustrated, sparking brief tension in the GT dugout.

Jos Buttler brought his trademark aggression to the crease, hammering 64 runs with boundaries flowing from both ends. However, it was Sai Sudharsan who truly stole the spotlight with a whirlwind 48, including a stunning over in which he hit five boundaries off SRH pace spearhead Mohammed Shami. His quick scoring helped GT accelerate at a critical juncture.

Despite occasional breakthroughs from the SRH bowlers, including wickets from Pat Cummins and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, the Titans maintained their aggressive tempo throughout the innings. The GT batting lineup showcased a blend of calculated risk and raw power, dismantling the SRH bowling attack.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad now face a daunting chase of 225 runs, needing their top-order batters to fire from the onset. With the pitch appearing favorable for batting, the second innings promises high drama and potential fireworks.

As the playoff race heats up, the outcome of this clash could have significant implications for both teams in their quest for a top-four finish.

Match Summary (GT 1st Innings)
GT: 224/6 in 20 overs
Top scorers: Shubman Gill 76, Jos Buttler 64, Sai Sudharsan 48
Best bowlers (SRH): Pat Cummins 2/42, Bhuvneshwar Kumar 1/38

Stay tuned for the second innings and full match coverage.
