“I Consider Myself an All-Rounder”: Vipraj Nigam Opens Up on Delhi Capitals Role Ahead of LSG Clash

As Delhi Capitals gear up to face Lucknow Super Giants, young spinner Vipraj Nigam speaks about balancing pressure, learning from seniors, and contributing with both bat and ball in IPL 2025.

📍Lucknow | April 21, 2025

Delhi Capitals will be looking to return to winning ways when they take on Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, after a narrow loss to Gujarat Titans in their previous IPL 2025 fixture.

Despite the defeat, DC — currently with 10 points from 7 matches — have shown consistent form under Axar Patel’s leadership, and one of the season’s standout young performers has been Vipraj Nigam, who continues to impress with both ball and bat.

🏏 “I Consider Myself an All-Rounder”

Addressing the media during a pre-match press conference, 20-year-old Nigam shared insights on his evolving role within the Delhi Capitals setup:

“I consider myself an all-rounder. I have to make contributions with the ball and also with the bat whenever required,” said the young left-arm spinner.

👪 On Playing in Front of Family

Nigam also touched upon the added pressure of performing in front of a home crowd and loved ones:

“Yes, there is a lot of pressure and nervousness in all the games. It just adds up when you play in front of your family and coach,” he admitted.

🧠 Learning from the Seniors

The youngster credited Delhi’s experienced players for helping him navigate high-pressure situations in IPL 2025:

“I get advice from the seniors in every game. There are players who were in Lucknow last year and are here this year too. We talk about those aspects in team meetings and plan accordingly.”

His comments underscore the mentorship structure within the DC squad, which continues to blend youth and experience effectively.

🤕 Faf du Plessis Injury Update

When asked about the availability of veteran batter Faf du Plessis, who missed DC’s last match, Nigam remained cautious:

“He is recovering well, but the final call will be taken by the management.”

🥇 What’s at Stake

With five wins from seven games, Delhi Capitals are firmly in the playoff race, and a win against LSG would bolster their position further. Nigam’s emergence as a reliable all-round option adds depth to a side already boasting match-winners like David Warner, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav.
