IPL 2024: GT-KKR clash abandoned due to rain
The much-anticipated 63rd match of the Indian Premier League 2024, set to be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium, was unfortunately called off due to rain.
This unexpected turn of events means that both teams, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Gujarat Titans (GT), will remain at their previous standings. KKR, at the top of the leaderboard with 19 points from 13 matches, remains the only team so far to have secured a spot in the playoffs of this 17th edition of the IPL. Conversely, GT finds itself in eighth place with just 10 points from 13 games, becoming the third team to be eliminated from playoff contention, following Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings. Despite this season’s challenges, GT has had notable successes in the past, having won the championship in 2022 and reached the finals in 2023.
