IPL 2025: “Backed My Execution, Luck Helped”: Starc Reflects on Super Over Heroics Against Rajasthan Royals
Mitchell Starc credits clear planning, a bit of luck, and team chemistry for Delhi Capitals’ thrilling Super Over win against Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025.
With RR needing just nine runs from the final over, Starc’s accuracy and calm under pressure saw him concede only eight runs, pushing the contest into extra time. Speaking at the post-match presentation, Starc said:
“Just backed my execution, running in with a clear plan. Sometimes it comes off; a bit of luck goes a long way. I’ve played long enough for everyone to know what I’d do, but if I execute, I know I’ll get by.”
He also commented on RR’s Super Over tactics:
“It was a bit of a surprise to see left-handers come in with my angle tailing the ball back in. Got one wrong with the side-line no-ball, but we had the batting depth to chase that down.”
🏏 Tactical Mastery Meets Team Spirit
Starc, who returned figures of 1/36, was named Player of the Match for his high-pressure bowling in both the 20th over and the Super Over. He emphasized the team’s unity and praised key performers:
“Good mix of youth and experience here. Axar is leading us well. Kuldeep has been fantastic. Stubbs and KL [Rahul] are very experienced. We’re having fun, and success helps that too.”
In the Super Over, RR set a target of 12 runs after scoring 11. KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs chased it down in just four balls, sealing the Capitals’ win.
Starc’s poise under pressure once again proved why he remains one of the game’s most dependable death-over specialists. With this victory, DC not only bagged two points but also showcased their ability to hold nerves when it matters the most.
