With IPL 2025 just around the corner, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) officially kicked off their title defense campaign with a grand fan event, ‘Knights Unplugged 2.0’, at Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan in Kolkata on March 20.

A sea of over 5,000 passionate KKR fans, draped in purple and gold, filled the venue to cheer for their heroes. The franchise proudly showcased its three IPL trophies, setting the tone for a high-energy season opener against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on March 23 at Eden Gardens.

KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane, along with vice-captain Venkatesh Iyer, head coach Chandrakant Pandit, mentor Dwayne Bravo, and CEO Venky Mysore, shared their thoughts ahead of the much-anticipated IPL season.


🗣️ Captain Ajinkya Rahane: “We Have a Strong Squad and a Clear Vision”

🚀 Returning as KKR captain, Ajinkya Rahane expressed his excitement about leading the franchise.

📢 “It feels great to be back with KKR. It’s an honor to lead a team with such a rich history. We have a strong squad this year, and everyone is on the same page. The energy in the camp is fantastic, and we are ready for a great season.”

💪 Rahane previously played for KKR in 2022 and rejoined the franchise after two impactful seasons with Chennai Super Kings (CSK), where he played a crucial role in their 2023 title-winning campaign.


🔥 Venkatesh Iyer: “I Owe Everything to KKR”

KKR’s vice-captain Venkatesh Iyer credited the franchise for his rise in the cricketing world.

As KKR gears up for their title defense, Eden Gardens is set to witness an electrifying atmosphere when they take on RCB in the IPL 2025 opener on March 23.
