IPL 2025: “Everyone Is Playing With Confidence”: Axar Patel on DC’s Fourth Straight Win

Delhi Capitals Remain Unbeaten in IPL 2025 as Skipper Axar Highlights Tactical Spin Usage, Kuldeep’s Consistency, and KL Rahul’s Composure

Bengaluru, April 11: Delhi Capitals (DC) continued their impressive unbeaten streak in IPL 2025, defeating Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by six wickets to register their fourth consecutive win of the season. A commanding 93 off 53 balls from KL Rahul*, coupled with sharp bowling strategies, ensured another clinical victory for the Capitals at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Chasing a target of 164 on a tricky surface, DC reached 169/4 in 17.5 overs, thanks to Rahul’s elegant knock that included seven boundaries and six sixes. The win lifted Delhi to second place on the points table with eight points from four matches.

Speaking at the post-match presentation, captain Axar Patel praised the team’s all-round confidence and strategic clarity.

“When we won three in three, I thought maybe four out of four is also possible (smiles). Everyone is playing with confidence, and it feels great,” Axar said.

He elaborated on the tactical use of spin during the powerplay and middle overs, explaining how match-ups and pitch behavior influenced his decisions.

“We talked about match-ups. I felt they preferred pace, so we held pacers back. The pitch was offering turn and bounce, so spin made sense—even in the powerplay. Though bowling the 19th over myself was a bit too tactical,” he chuckled.

Axar also lauded the performances of Kuldeep Yadav and rising talent Vipraj Nigam, who have anchored Delhi’s middle overs with consistency and control.

“Kuldeep has been doing this for years. Vipraj was under pressure in the first two games, but he’s grown in confidence and is improving day by day. He gives the captain confidence—and that’s invaluable,” said Axar.

On KL Rahul’s match-winning knock, Axar was full of admiration.

“It becomes easy for me as a captain when someone like KL is there. I’ve played that floater role, and it’s not easy. Today, I got out to a poor shot, but he played a mature, composed innings and finished the game. He’s still riding the Champions Trophy form.”

With each match, DC is shaping up to be one of the most balanced and well-led teams in the tournament.
