Despite Lucknow Super Giants’ 37-run defeat to Punjab Kings, Rishabh Pant insists “the dream is still alive” with three must-win matches remaining in IPL 2025.
Dharamsala, May 5, 2025 –
Following Lucknow Super Giants’ crushing 37-run loss to Punjab Kings, skipper Rishabh Pant delivered a candid assessment of his team’s performance, acknowledging dropped catches and poor fielding as turning points in the match. LSG, now languishing at seventh on the points table with 10 points from 11 matches, face a steep climb to reach the playoffs.

“When you drop crucial catches at the wrong time, it can hurt you badly… But that is part and parcel of the game,” Pant said during the post-match presentation.
Chasing a mammoth target of 236, LSG’s top order faltered again, a recurring issue in recent outings. Despite the pressure, Pant defended his underperforming star batters—Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, and Nicholas Pooran—saying failures are part of the game.
“Every match, you cannot hope for the top order to fire. We had too many runs to catch up on, and that hurt us badly.”
🔥 PBKS Rise to Second Spot
Punjab Kings, on the other hand, continue their resurgence under captain Shreyas Iyer, who praised the team’s all-round display. Prabhsimran Singh’s explosive 91 off 48 balls was the highlight of their innings.
“Everyone stepped up at the right time… Prabhsimran’s innings was exceptional,” Iyer said.
Iyer attributed their success to teamwork, clarity in roles, and a bit of luck backed by effort.
“We’ve been lucky, but the luck has come from hard work. We just need to improve our field awareness.”
PBKS now sit second on the points table with 15 points from 11 games.
