IPL 2025: “Hyderabad Is Match-Ready — With 3,000 Cops, We’re Leaving Nothing to Chance”

Rachakonda CP Sudheer Babu announces robust security arrangements for IPL 2025 matches at Uppal Stadium, including extended metro services and deployment of She Teams for women’s safety.

Hyderabad is set to roar once again with the return of the Indian Premier League, and the city’s police force is stepping up to ensure fans enjoy a safe, seamless match-day experience. Rachakonda Commissioner of Police, Sudheer Babu, on Thursday revealed that 3,000 police personnel have been deployed to manage security for IPL 2025 games at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uppal, which will host nine high-profile matches this season.

“We have nine matches that will take place here… the stadium has a capacity of 39,000. Around 3,000 police officials have been deployed for duty. We also have ‘She Teams’ for women’s safety, and we’ve requested the metro to extend services late into the night so spectators can return home safely,” Sudheer Babu said.

From ensuring crowd control and VIP movement to managing traffic and post-match dispersal, the Hyderabad Police’s blueprint covers all bases. Special focus has also been placed on women’s safety, with dedicated She Teams stationed at key points in and around the stadium.

The Hyderabad Metro Rail has been requested to extend its operational hours on match days to accommodate the massive footfall expected after evening games. The move is aimed at reducing traffic congestion and ensuring a smooth exit for thousands of fans.
