Jos Buttler’s Blazing Fifty Powers Gujarat Titans to Eight-Wicket Win Over RCB
Bengaluru, April 3: Jos Buttler’s unbeaten 73 off 39 balls and a composed 49 from Sai Sudharsan powered Gujarat Titans to a dominant eight-wicket victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in the IPL 2025 on Wednesday.
With this win, the Titans climbed to fourth position, tying with RCB on four points after three games but lagging on net run rate.
Chasing a target of 170, Gujarat got off to a brisk start with Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan attacking early. Gill fell for 14 in the fifth over to Bhuvneshwar Kumar, but Buttler joined Sudharsan to keep the momentum intact. The duo added 71 runs before Sudharsan was dismissed for 49 (36 balls) by Josh Hazlewood.
Sherfane Rutherford (30 off 18)* partnered Buttler in the final phase, as the Titans cruised to the target in 17.5 overs. Buttler’s innings featured 10 boundaries and a six, showcasing his return to form.
Earlier, RCB, led by Rajat Patidar, struggled after being put in to bat. They lost Virat Kohli early for 7, and the top order collapsed to 42/4.
A vital 52-run stand between Liam Livingstone (54 off 40) and Jitesh Sharma (33 off 20) helped steady the innings. A late flourish by Tim David (32 off 18) pushed RCB to a respectable 169/8 in 20 overs.
For Gujarat, Mohammed Siraj was the standout bowler with figures of 3/19, while Sai Kishore (2/22) and Prasidh Krishna (1/26) also chipped in with key wickets.
