IPL 2025: "Practiced Those Shots a Lot": Prabhsimran Singh Reveals Secret Behind Fearless Knock in PBKS' Win Over LSG
Lucknow, April 2: Prabhsimran Singh lit up the Ekana Stadium with a dazzling display of fearless hitting as Punjab Kings (PBKS) cruised to a dominant eight-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Tuesday in the 13th match of IPL 2025.
Speaking after the match, the young wicketkeeper-batter opened up about his bold shot selection, particularly the sweeps and switch hits that left fans and bowlers stunned.
“As everyone knows, he’s such a legend (referring to coach Ricky Ponting). He’s always very positive and tells us to back our game,” Prabhsimran said in the post-match chat.
“I’ve practiced those shots a lot in the nets. This is one platform that can help you achieve your goal of playing for India.”
Chasing 172, PBKS lost Priyansh Arya (8) early, but Prabhsimran Singh’s explosive 69 off just 34 balls – featuring nine fours and three sixes at a strike rate of over 200 – set the tone. Skipper Shreyas Iyer remained unbeaten on 52 off 30, while Nehal Wadhera smashed 43 off 25* to finish the chase with 22 balls to spare.
The win marked PBKS’s second consecutive victory, moving them up to second on the points table, while LSG slipped to sixth.
Opting to bat, LSG suffered early blows at 35/3, but Nicholas Pooran (44) and Ayush Badoni (41) stitched together a fighting stand. A late cameo from Abdul Samad (27 off 12) pushed LSG to a decent 171/7.
Arshdeep Singh led PBKS’s bowling with 3/43, while Marco Jansen, Lockie Ferguson, Glenn Maxwell, and Yuzi Chahal each chipped in with a wicket.
With confidence soaring and support from the dressing room, Prabhsimran Singh is not only making his mark on the league but also inching closer to fulfilling his dream of donning the Indian jersey. His fearless strokeplay and smart execution might just be what takes Punjab deep into IPL 2025.
