IPL 2025: Punjab Kings' ₹4.2 Crore Star Slammed After Another Flop Against KKR
April 27, 2025: Kolkata: Punjab Kings’ ₹4.2 crore acquisition Glenn Maxwell faced fresh heat from fans and former players after another disappointing performance in IPL 2025. Returning to the playing XI after missing two matches, Maxwell managed just 7 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) before being bowled by spinner Varun Chakravarthy.

Maxwell, who was bought with high expectations during the mega auction, has scored just 41 runs across the season so far, drawing widespread criticism.
Former India cricketer Suresh Raina delivered a scathing verdict:
“I don’t remember the last time Glenn Maxwell made runs for the team. He has been given too many chances,” Raina said during a post-match discussion.

Despite a solid batting platform laid by the openers, Maxwell’s failure at No. 4 once again exposed PBKS’s middle-order fragility.
With the tournament reaching its crucial phase, calls are growing louder for PBKS to rethink their faith in Maxwell if they are to sustain a genuine title challenge.
