IPL 2025 Revised Schedule Announced: Action Resumes May 17; No Matches in Chennai, Hyderabad

BCCI confirms IPL restart after India-Pakistan ceasefire, with 17 matches across six cities; final to be held on June 3, playoffs venues pending.

New Delhi, May 12:
The BCCI has officially announced the revised schedule for the remainder of IPL 2025, confirming that the league will resume on May 17 following a brief suspension due to cross-border tensions with Pakistan. The tournament had been abruptly halted on May 8 after the Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals match was called off amid an airspace security scare near Chandigarh.

🌍 Foreign Players’ Availability in Doubt

Following the suspension, several overseas players had returned to their home countries. While franchises are expected to bring them back before May 17, injuries and national duties could prevent full squads from reuniting.

  • Josh Hazlewood (RCB) is doubtful due to a shoulder niggle.
  • Pat Cummins (SRH) and Kagiso Rabada (GT) may be unavailable, with both eyeing the World Test Championship Final starting June 11 at Lord’s.

🇮🇳 India A Tour Clashes With IPL Schedule

The revised IPL timeline overlaps with India A’s tour of England, where they are scheduled to face the England Lions in two four-day games on May 30 and June 6. The tour is part of preparations ahead of the senior team’s tour starting June 20.

This overlap may impact selection for both squads and create logistical challenges, especially for young Test contenders.

The India A squad announcement is expected within the next 48 hours, and BCCI may need to carefully balance player assignments.
