LSG’s Marcus Stoinis reveals his current go-to Indian dish

Following a victory over the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) all-rounder Marcus Stoinis shared his current favorite Indian dish in a post-match video on the official IPL X (formerly Twitter) account.

Amid his recovery from a mild illness, Stoinis has developed a particular fondness for dal khichdi, a comforting Indian staple. “I have had, six eggs and four hash browns and three coffees. My go-to Indian dish at the moment has been dal khichdi. And that is also because I have been a bit sick. So I have been told that that is like a nice homely dish,” Stoinis explained.

On the field, Stoinis delivered a standout all-round performance, crucial to LSG’s tense four-wicket win in a chase of 145 runs against MI at Ekana Stadium. His powerplay bowling was particularly effective, capturing the key wicket of Suryakumar Yadav. Stoinis expressed his preference for bowling during the powerplay, utilizing his swing to compensate for his speed. “At the end of the day, I am absolutely happy to bowl or bat anywhere. I love competing, I love the contest so just throw me the ball or give me the bat and I will get stuck in,” he added.

So far this season, Stoinis has accumulated 316 runs at an average of 39.50 and a strike rate of 151.92, including a century and two fifties, with a top score of 124*. He has also taken four wickets. Reflecting on his motivation, Stoinis mentioned that he thrives under scrutiny and pressure, which fuel his performance. “I think I enjoy drawing on that sort of stuff to give me energy. competitive mindset and that energy towards every contest is what I measure,” Stoinis noted.

Regarding the wicket of Suryakumar, Stoinis acknowledged a bit of fortune in the delivery. “But yeah, you will take them because there’s obviously times where you bowl some good balls that go to the boundary as well. So yeah, it was a bit of luck, a bit of fortune, but it was also important for us to make an early inroads into their team,” he remarked.

Off the field, Stoinis enjoys a close friendship with Tim David, his fellow Australian and MI player, often spending time playing golf together. He humorously compared their personalities, joking, “We are close. We are both from Perth as well, so we play some golf together, so we talk about our golf and that sort of stuff. But no chat about the Hulk and all that sort of thing, although he has got quite a hairy back, so I think maybe I will be the Hulk and he can be Bigfoot. That is what I reckon,” Stoinis concluded.
