MS Dhoni Breaks Silence on IPL Retirement: “It’s My Body That’ll Decide”

As speculation grows around his future in IPL 2025, the CSK legend reveals he will take 10 months post-season to decide his next move, keeping fans hopeful for one more year.

April 7, 2025: With IPL 2025 heating up, speculation around MS Dhoni’s retirement has reached fever pitch—especially following Chennai Super Kings’ recent defeat to Delhi Capitals. At 43 years of age, Dhoni’s every move is under the microscope, and many believe this season could be his last as a player.

But the CSK captain finally addressed the swirling rumors in a recent podcast with Raj Shamani, and he made one thing clear: the decision isn’t final—yet.

“I’m still playing the IPL and taking it one year at a time,” Dhoni said.
“By the end of this IPL, I’ll be 44 in July. So I have 10 months to decide whether I want to play another year. It’s not me deciding—it’s my body. Whether it allows me to or not.”

🧤 Still Sharp Behind the Stumps

While Dhoni’s batting form has been underwhelming, his fitness, sharp reflexes, and wicket-keeping brilliance have earned praise this season. The cricketing icon may have only been dismissed once in four games, but he’s struggled to finish innings with his trademark flair.

In CSK’s recent 50-run loss to Delhi, Dhoni managed 30 off 26 balls, a knock that lacked his usual explosiveness.

🏏 CSK’s Rocky Start

Chennai has only managed one win in their first four matches, prompting fans and analysts to question the team’s form and direction. Dhoni’s future naturally becomes a focal point in this conversation—but for now, the legend remains calm and calculated.
