MS Dhoni’s Cryptic Answer on Playing IPL 2026 Keeps Fans Guessing

As CSK struggles in IPL 2025, Dhoni avoids confirming retirement, sparking fresh speculation about his future with Chennai Super Kings.

Is this the end of an era? That’s the question on every fan’s mind as MS Dhoni, the legendary Chennai Super Kings skipper, gave a typically enigmatic response to whether he’ll play another season of the Indian Premier League.

Just before CSK’s clash with Punjab Kings, commentator Danny Morrison cheekily asked the question millions have been wondering:

“Does that mean you’re coming back next year as well?”

With a smile and trademark calm, Dhoni replied:

“I don’t know, I’m coming for the next game (laughs).”

Though brief, the statement has once again thrown Dhoni’s retirement plans into ambiguity, with fans reading between the lines as they await a clearer signal from the iconic captain.

Dhoni Reflects on CSK’s Underwhelming Season:

CSK have had a forgettable run in IPL 2025, managing just two wins in nine matches. Another loss would mathematically eliminate them from the playoff race.

Dhoni acknowledged the team’s inconsistency and shared insights into their internal struggles:

“We’ve made a lot of changes this season. That’s unusual for CSK. Normally, we only swap 1-2 players. But when things aren’t working, you have to keep adjusting.”

He also pointed to the challenges of building chemistry after the fresh auction, saying the team is still figuring out ideal batting combinations and roles.
