Preity Zinta Sues Punjab Kings Co-Owners Mohit Burman and Ness Wadia
Chandigarh | May 23, 2025
Preity Zinta, co-owner of the IPL franchise Punjab Kings and director of KPH Dream Cricket Private Limited, has filed a legal petition against her fellow co-directors Mohit Burman and Ness Wadia, alleging procedural violations in a board meeting conducted on April 21.

In her petition to a Chandigarh court, Zinta has challenged the legality of the Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) held on April 21, claiming it was organized in breach of the Companies Act, 2013 and established corporate governance protocols. She contends that despite her written objections on April 10, the meeting was convened without addressing her concerns.
Zinta further alleges that Mohit Burman moved forward with the meeting with the backing of Ness Wadia. While she and co-director Karan Paul did attend, she insists the process was flawed and has asked the court to declare the meeting — and all decisions arising from it — null and void.

A central issue in the dispute is the appointment of Muneesh Khanna as a new director during the contested meeting, a move that both Zinta and Paul opposed. She has also sought a court order barring Khanna from acting in any official capacity as director.
Additionally, Zinta’s legal plea includes a request to halt all future board or shareholder meetings involving KPH Dream Cricket Pvt. Ltd. without the presence of both her and Karan Paul, and to exclude Muneesh Khanna from any company affairs until the matter is resolved in court.
Despite the legal turbulence, Zinta has remained a visible and enthusiastic presence at Punjab Kings’ matches during the ongoing IPL 2025 season. The franchise, led by Shreyas Iyer, has shown strong form and is currently placed third on the points table with 17 points from 12 games, marking its best season since 2014.
Punjab Kings are set to play Delhi Capitals in Jaipur on May 24 and Mumbai Indians on May 26 in their final league stage fixtures, as they aim for a top-two finish and a direct shot at the finals.
