Arya’s knock is now joint-second fastest by an Indian in IPL history, equalling some of the most iconic T20 performances.
Punjab Kings, who had suffered a massive 50-run loss to Rajasthan Royals in their previous outing, bounced back in style. Skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and chose to bat first, citing confidence in their batting strength despite the previous collapse.
“We had a discussion about our strengths, and today we wanted to utilize them from the top. The dew wasn’t much of a factor in the last game, and we wanted to back ourselves,” said Iyer at the toss.
Punjab made no changes to their playing XI, showing faith in their combination. Iyer also credited the bowling unit’s potential and said it’s about deploying them wisely under pressure.
Meanwhile, CSK’s struggles continue, especially in chasing high totals. Despite a strong top-order, lack of depth in the batting lineup has been a concern. Questions have also been raised about skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad’s position, as he continues to bat at No.3 to maintain team balance.
