Rohit Sharma Bids Emotional Goodbye to MI Squad as IPL; Watch Viral Video with Arjun Tendulkar

After Mumbai Indians’ exit from IPL 2025, Rohit Sharma’s farewell moment with Arjun Tendulkar goes viral, while coach Mahela Jayawardene reflects on the season’s ups and downs.

June-3, 2025: Mumbai Indians’ IPL 2025 campaign came to an end in Qualifier 2 on Sunday, with a defeat to Punjab Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Despite posting a formidable 203-run total, the five-time champions couldn’t stop Shreyas Iyer’s masterclass that steered PBKS to victory.

Mumbai Indians’ journey this season was a roller-coaster, bouncing back from a shaky start to reach the playoffs and beat Gujarat Titans in the Eliminator. However, their title hopes ended in heartbreak against Punjab.

In the aftermath of the defeat, videos of the Mumbai Indians squad parting ways have surfaced, capturing the bittersweet emotions of the team. One particular clip — where Rohit Sharma warmly bids farewell to young pacer Arjun Tendulkar — has gone viral on social media, reflecting the camaraderie within the squad.

Reflecting on the match, MI head coach Mahela Jayawardene acknowledged that a few crucial mistakes with the bat and ball cost them the game.

“I think we probably left a few runs out there with the bat,” Jayawardene told MI’s official website. “Those back-to-back wickets slowed us down, and though 200 was a good score, we didn’t execute well enough with the ball.”

Jayawardene noted that the pitch played well throughout the game and praised his team for fighting back despite initial setbacks.

“We started off well, with two solid partnerships up top. At one point we were scoring at 10 runs an over, but those quick wickets halted our momentum,” he explained. “Still, it’s been a good campaign. The way we regrouped and fought back after the initial struggles was really commendable.”

As Mumbai Indians head back home, the focus will soon turn to the future, with fans already looking forward to the 2026 season.
