Suryakumar Yadav Holds Umbrella For Bhogle In Post-Match Presentation-Watch Video

After guiding Mumbai Indians into the IPL 2025 playoffs with a match-winning 73*, Suryakumar Yadav wins hearts off the field with a gentleman’s gesture under the Wankhede drizzle.

Mumbai, May 22, 2025 – Cricket often creates its most memorable moments off the pitch. Following his heroic innings against Delhi Capitals, Suryakumar Yadav was not only awarded Player of the Match, but also became the talk of social media for an endearing gesture during the post-match presentation.

As light rain began to fall over the Wankhede Stadium, Suryakumar offered to share his umbrella with broadcaster Harsha Bhogle, shielding the veteran commentator during the live interview. Bhogle, visibly touched, smiled and continued the conversation under shared cover.

Match Recap: SKY Lights Up Wankhede

Coming into the game without a single Player of the Match award in IPL 2025, Suryakumar delivered when it mattered most. Walking in at a tense moment, he smashed an unbeaten 73 off 44 balls, reviving Mumbai’s innings in a brilliant 57-run stand with Naman Dhir that yielded 48 runs in the final two overs.

Fan-Favourite Moment

Despite the big hits and sharp spells, it was the umbrella moment that lingered in fans’ minds.

“A true sportsman and a gentleman,” one fan posted on X. “SKY doesn’t just win games, he wins hearts.”

The rain, which began just after the match, held off long enough for the entire game to be played without interruption—a welcome turn amid weather-related disruptions across North India.

What’s Next for MI?

Mumbai Indians travel to Jaipur to face Punjab Kings on May 26 in their final league match. With playoff qualification confirmed, MI will now aim for a top-two finish to gain a strategic advantage in the knockouts beginning May 29.
