“That Is Not Acceptable”: RCB Skipper Rajat Patidar Slams Batting Collapse After Defeat to DC

After RCB’s six-wicket loss at home, a visibly upset Patidar criticizes his batters for throwing away momentum despite a flying start; KL Rahul’s unbeaten 93 seals the win for Delhi.

Bengaluru, April 11 – A frustrated Rajat Patidar minced no words after Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) suffered a crushing six-wicket defeat at the hands of Delhi Capitals (DC) on Thursday night. The skipper pulled up his own team’s batters for collapsing from a position of strength, terming the performance “not acceptable.”

“We were 60 for 1 and then slipped to 90 for 4. That is not acceptable. We didn’t bat well,” said Patidar after the match.

RCB, after a blistering start by Phil Salt, who powered them to 61/1 inside four overs, lost momentum due to a mid-innings collapse. The team could only manage 163/7, well below par on a batting-friendly surface at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Patidar Points to Poor Shot Selection and Misreading the Pitch

The skipper admitted that the team failed to assess conditions effectively.

“We thought it would be a nice batting track, but we lacked in reading the situation,” he said.
He credited Tim David’s late flourish (37 off 19) but felt it came too late to tilt the game in RCB’s favor.

He did, however, praise RCB’s pace attack, which had DC struggling at 30/3 in the powerplay.

“Our fast bowlers were really special upfront,” Patidar noted.

KL Rahul Masterclass Sinks RCB

KL Rahul, who was named Player of the Match, anchored DC’s chase with an unbeaten 93, guiding the visitors to victory with 13 balls to spare.

Rahul said his experience as a wicketkeeper gave him a tactical edge:

“I was behind the stumps for 20 overs, so I understood the pitch better. The surface was consistent and one-paced.”

He added that playing at his “home ground” gave him a natural advantage.

“This is my ground, I know it better than anyone. I experimented during practice, and it helped me plan my innings today.”

Axar Patel Praises Rahul and Team Effort

Delhi Capitals’ stand-in skipper Axar Patel hailed Rahul’s composed knock and highlighted the team’s growing confidence.

“Everyone is playing with confidence. We backed our spin attack early as the pitch was offering turn. Rahul’s mature knock made it easy for us.”

Points Table Update

  • Delhi Capitals now top the IPL 2025 table with four straight wins
  • RCB have slipped to third place, with inconsistency in the middle order becoming a major concern.
