The way they're playing is pure bliss: KKR skipper Iyer lauds Narine-Salt
After Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) commanding 98-run victory over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), team captain Shreyas Iyer praised the dynamic opening duo of Sunil Narine and Phil Salt for their consistent performances this season. The win propelled KKR to the top of the IPL standings, highlighted by Narine’s all-around brilliance and stellar bowling from Harshit Rana and Varun Chakravarthy.
In the post-match presentation, Iyer reflected on the team’s recent challenges and successes, saying, “In the last six matches, there’s been a bit of havoc in the dressing room. Everyone’s wondering about our luck with the toss, but at the end of the day, it’s the wins that count. We got off to a strong start in the powerplay. During the timeout, Sunil was confident that anything around 200 would be competitive.”
He continued, “The lefty-righty combination at the top complicates things for our opponents. It forces bowlers to adjust their plans, which really works to our advantage. Regarding the performance of our uncapped players, it’s all about giving them the freedom to express themselves. We aim to maintain a positive approach, regardless of the situation. Sometimes it doesn’t pan out, but often it does. As for Narine and Salt, their form has been phenomenal. The way they’re hitting the ball is just pure bliss. They’ve been instrumental in setting up games for us and maintaining our momentum with a positive mindset,” he added.
