“We had belief and we won the game”: GT opener Sai Sudarshan

After clinching a nail-biting three-wicket victory over Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Gujarat Titans opener Sai Sudarshan reflected on the tense finish at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

Sudarshan attributed the win to the team’s unwavering belief in their ability to triumph, despite the challenges posed by the pitch.

Shubman Gill’s robust half-century coupled with decisive knocks from Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan propelled the Titans to a thrilling victory against the table-topping Royals. Sudarshan commented on the changing conditions of the pitch, noting that although it was challenging to bat during the first innings, it slightly improved in the second, aiding their batters.

“We conceded a few extra runs early on, but managed to pull through brilliantly. Achieving a strong start during the powerplay was crucial, and even after a couple of quick wickets, our belief never wavered,” Sudarshan explained in the post-match interview. He further emphasized the importance of the win for team morale, “This victory was crucial; it not only gave us the momentum but also reinforced our confidence. We’re looking forward to extending this performance streak.”
