"We've made some real progress": RCB skipper Faf du Plessis
After a decisive nine-wicket victory against Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Faf du Plessis highlighted the team’s marked improvement in both batting and bowling.
Du Plessis, who played a swift innings of 24 runs off 12 balls, including three sixes, was dismissed by Sai Kishore in the fourth over. Reflecting on the match and the pitch at the Narendra Modi Stadium, he remarked, “I thought it was a really good wicket. When we bowled first, we felt like it certainly was a score that we could chase, obviously not 16 overs.”
The RCB skipper discussed the team’s performance evolution since the season’s start, noting significant strides in confidence and execution. “It feels like we’ve made some real progress in both departments. We were way off in the beginning of the tournament, but it feels like there’s confidence in the group and you can see that in both bowling and batting,” he explained.
Du Plessis also commended his bowlers for gaining momentum, which has evidently bolstered the team’s subsequent performances. “The guys are doing a really good job. The bowlers took some great confidence from that night and you can see the following performance has been really good. We are doing the basics much better now,” he concluded, optimistic about the team’s trajectory.
