"Wish I was a batter": SRH skipper Pat Cummins
After Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) record-setting performance against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Bengaluru, where they set an IPL high-score of 287/3 thanks to explosive innings from Travis Head and Heinrich Klaasen, SRH captain Pat Cummins humorously expressed a desire to switch roles from bowler to batter.
In the thrilling match, Cummins himself played a pivotal role, claiming 3 wickets for 43 runs, which significantly hindered RCB’s chase. Despite a vigorous effort from RCB, they fell short by 25 runs, ending at 262/7.
In his post-match remarks, Cummins quipped, “I wish I was a batter today. It was a spectacular game of cricket, truly remarkable. Perhaps give it a few more years, and we might see bowlers becoming a rare breed in these kinds of high-scoring games. It’s all in good fun though. You do your best; even an over costing seven or eight runs can make a big difference. I’ve stopped trying to predict the pitch conditions; Chinnaswamy looked dry today. I’m just really pleased with this win, our fourth in the competition. Our batters looked like they were really enjoying themselves out there.”
