Yashasvi Jaiswal Quits Mumbai, Submits Application to BCCI

Mumbai to Goa: India’s rising star eyes a fresh start in domestic cricket

📅 April 2, 2025 | In a major move ahead of the next domestic season, Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has formally submitted a request to quit Mumbai and represent Goa, according to multiple reports. The 22-year-old, once a poster boy for Mumbai cricket’s success pipeline, has already sought a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), citing “personal reasons” for the switch.

💬 “He has sought an NOC from us… the reason cited is personal,” an MCA source told Indian Express.

🏏 Jaiswal’s Form Woes Continue in IPL 2025

This change comes amid a rough IPL season with Rajasthan Royals, where Jaiswal has scored just 34 runs in 3 matches — with a highest score of 29. His powerplay dismissal rate has shot up to 44%, a stark contrast to his consistency in 2023.

📉 Stats since IPL 2024:

  • Average: 11.33
  • Strike Rate: 106.25
  • Scores: 1, 29, 4
  • Attacking Shot %: Dropped to 70% from earlier seasons

🔁 Goa: A New Home for Mumbai Talents?

If approved, Jaiswal will join the likes of Arjun Tendulkar and Siddhesh Lad, who previously shifted from Mumbai to Goa in search of better opportunities and leadership roles.

With the BCCI mandating domestic red-ball participation for national players, Jaiswal’s move could be strategic — especially if he’s aiming for more leadership or batting responsibility in a less-competitive squad.

🎯 What’s Next?

  • ✅ NOC approval from MCA
  • 🏏 Possible Goa debut in 2025-26 domestic season
  • 🔍 RR’s upcoming matches to see if Jaiswal can bounce back in IPL 2025
