A heated war of words broke out between Navjot Singh Sidhu and Ambati Rayudu during the PBKS vs CSK clash, as tensions flared over team loyalty and commentary styles.
April 9, 2025: In yet another fiery episode of IPL 2025 off the pitch, former India cricketers Ambati Rayudu and Navjot Singh Sidhu clashed live on air during the Punjab Kings vs Chennai Super Kings match on Tuesday night.
The verbal altercation began when Rayudu accused Sidhu of frequently switching loyalties, calling him a “girgit” (chameleon). Sidhu didn’t hold back and shot back with:
“Is sansar me girgit ki tarah koi hai to tumhare aradhyadev hai”
(If there’s anyone in this world like a chameleon, it’s your idol.)
The exchange, now viral on social media, left the panel momentarily stunned as the tension escalated.

Rayudu, known for his unfiltered opinions, has been a vocal supporter of his former IPL teams — Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI). At the same time, he hasn’t shied away from criticizing teams like Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the past.

This isn’t Rayudu’s first heated exchange this IPL season. Just days before, he had a strong disagreement with Sanjay Bangar over Rohit Sharma’s role in the Mumbai Indians squad. Bangar argued that Rohit’s presence as a strategic guide was still crucial, while Rayudu insisted that Hardik Pandya should be left alone as captain — much like MS Dhoni or Rohit himself during their leadership years.
“A captain needs to be left alone. Dhoni wasn’t at someone’s ear all the time. Same with Rohit. So why should Hardik have 10 people advising him?” Rayudu said.
Bangar countered firmly:
“It’s different for you, Rayudu — you never led an IPL team. But Rohit has led teams to multiple titles.”
With Rayudu now a regular in the commentary panel, his outspoken nature has added a layer of drama to IPL 2025 — one that’s drawing almost as much attention as the on-field action.
