July 27, 2025: Aaron Rodgers, the quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, said that 2025 would be his last season. Now he says that his plans to retire might not be set in stone. The 41-year-old had said on The Pat McAfee Show that he was “pretty sure” that this season, which he signed a one-year deal with the Steelers for, would be his last.

Rodgers first said on McAfee’s show, “That’s why we only signed a one-year deal.” The Steelers didn’t have to add any more years to that or anything. “Finishing with a lot of love, fun, and peace for the career I’ve had,” prompted many to think that his long career was coming to an end. Most people weren’t surprised that he was thinking about retiring because his time with the New York Jets was mostly dominated by health problems and his advanced age.

But recent conversations with the media at the Steelers’ training camp in Latrobe show that things have changed. When questioned explicitly if he still stood by what he had said about retiring, Rodgers said, “Yeah, I might go into the season like that.” I might not. This vague answer has led to more conjecture, leaving the door open for a possible return after the 2025 season.

Rodgers got married recently, but we don’t know who his wife is yet. His performance this season with the Steelers and his ability to stay healthy will definitely be important factors in any decisions that are made in the future.
